HISTORY

Dustpan Recordings is a music label based in Singapore, a global melting pot where the groove of the West meets the vibrancy of the East. We seek to promote, create and distribute house music, and in doing so transmit its positive energy and message to people all over the world.

The label’s musical direction is spearheaded by Singaporean artist, Kane Ian who wishes to break out of the confines of easy main stream music, push boundaries so as to speak, putting out quality house music for the dance floor and easy listening for anytime anyplace.

Music is his passion. Laurent Woker, Swiss producer and DJ, was born on the 17th of February 1990. Already at the age of four he discovered his passion for music when he received a small set of plastic drums in Paris. As an eight-year-old he already had the spirit of a DJ and regularly fixed the music for his older sister's parties in Switzerland. One year later, he got his first drum kit and trained a lot during his four years' stay in Kuwait. This made him ready for his first public concert with his band, featuring other artists playing the electric guitar. Besides playing the drums, he was busy as the first-choice DJ of every school party in Kuwait with professional equipment. That was at the age of 12. After moving to Singapore in 2002, he continued mixing for his friends' parties and upgraded his equipment by purchasing his first producing software. Producing songs proves to be more than just a passing fancy. During a whole year, Laurent is concentrated on producing songs. While his passion for music remained the same, his preferences for Hard Core and Hard Techno changed to Chillout, Ambient and New Age with a dash of Break Beats at times. Hence he was known as DJ SPLEEN. His producing activities led him to the release of his first album "Idea" in June 2004. At this time, Laurent started DJ lessons at Singapore's Audiosports DJ Academy with Brendon P. (Resident DJ at Velvet Underground, Zouk). This made him develop his DJ skills through to deep, funky & electro house. By mid 2005, Laurent had finished all courses having skipped from basics to the advanced level and has adopted a new style. In June 2005, Laurent realized that the name DJ Spleen was already used by other DJ's. He has changed from DJ Spleen to DJ SAINT LAURENT. Laurent is now working on new electro & deep house productions. In the future, Laurent hopes to continue his DJ and producer career on a professional basis.
