SAM TYLER
Sam Tyler is an American electronic music producer and house DJ who has spent over a decade operating within the underground house music landscapes of Chicago, Illinois, and Michigan. Tyler began his professional trajectory as a club DJ in 2005, focusing primarily on the preservation of foundational regional electronic aesthetics, including deep house, funky house, and jackin’ house.
His studio production work heavily incorporates structural elements of jazz and classic groove music. This design philosophy has yielded regular signings to several independent domestic and international dance imprints, including Dustpan Recordings, emby, Moiss Music, Chicago Skyline Records, and Closer to Truth.
Beyond his solo discography, Tyler has contributed directly to localized venue programming and nightlife events. In April 2013, he assisted in establishing the core sound programming for the Chicago-based lounge venue Drop. He also maintains a presence in the Mid-Atlantic and East Coast underground party networks, earning routine bookings at regional events such as Philadelphia's Pamplemousse Party at the Dolphin Tavern. To manage and distribute his own material, Tyler operates the independent boutique imprint West Bay Recordings, which serves as a platform for his standalone catalog and recurring seasonal mix project titled Pool Vibes. His most notable external label work includes the Keys Please EP, which dropped on the prominent Singapore-based underground label Dustpan Recordings, alongside other label successes like his Groove On Lock release.
